History

In August of 2000, Pastor Crawford prayerfully considered planting an Independent Baptist church in the Metroplex area where there was a significant need for one. Through prayer, extensive research, and council with other pastors in Dallas/Fort Worth, Pastor Crawford chose to start a mission in Haslet, Texas. With a small congregation newly named Heritage Baptist Church, Pastor Crawford began the process of trying to build a church in Haslet.

For the first few weeks the congregation met in the church member’s homes, but with the growth it soon became apparent that they would not be able to fit for very much longer. After a short search, it was determined that they would meet in the Haslet Senior Center. With a RV for a nursery and kids Sunday school classes outside, God continued to bless Heritage Baptist Church.

Soon yet another place had to be found to meet. There was no temporary place to meet in Haslet until a permanent building was obtained so the congregation was forced to move to a storefront in Lake Worth 15 miles away from their ultimate target city. Here they renovated a former Dairy Queen Warehouse to suit a church. It was also here on March 2001 that Heritage Baptist Church officially transitioned from a mission to a self supporting church after only six months of existence.

But Pastor Crawford’s and Heritage Baptist Church’s true desire was to follow God’s plan and plant a church in Haslet. So the search for land started. Soon a perfect piece of property was found for a building to meet. The only problem was that there was no one who thought a bank would loan a large amount of money to a church that had only been in existence for such a short time. God supplied a bank for a loan and the members gave sacrificially by faith to raise money for the down payment required. Soon something happened that so many people said could never happen.

God continued to bless the church and an even larger building was needed to accommodate the church. They began to rent the Norris Bible Baptist Seminary buildings in White Settlement.

Finally after many trials and road blocks Heritage Baptist Church opened their doors in Haslet in May of 2006. God has truly blessed this church and has done the impossible. As Pastor Crawford leads, Heritage Baptist Church will continue to move forward and reach souls here in Haslet and around the world with the Gospel of Christ.

Doctrine

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God and that it is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. God is a Person, eternally existing, as a Trinity in unity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - three Persons and yet one God. Jesus Christ, eternally existing, is the only begotten Son of God, who became a sinless man to redeem us. The local church is a group of believers baptized by water, banded together for edification, exhortation, and evangelism as commanded by Christ in the Great Commission; preaching the Gospel to every creature. Man was created in the image of God but fell through sin, bringing not only physical death, but also spiritual death or eternal separation from God. Now all of mankind exists as a fallen race with an inherited sinful nature that can only be remedied by the acceptance of the atonement that was made for all man in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ- the God-Man.

For more detail on what we believe and why, read our "Articles of the Faith".

Plan of Salvation

Sense the need for Salvation from the Wrath of God for sins by Realizing What Sin is and That There is a Penalty for it.
"Sin is the transgression of the law (Ten Commandments)." I Jn. 3:4; "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (His righteousness)." Rm. 3:23;"there is none righteous." Rm. 3:10;"the wages of sin is death." Rm. 6:23

See the significance of Christ and His Unique Life, Death and Resurrection by Realizing How Such Relates to Salvation from God's Wrath.
"He (God the Father) hath made him (God the Son) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him." II Cor. 5:21;" God commandeth (showeth) His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Rm 5:8

Secure Personally the Benefits of What Christ Has Done For Them by Realizing Salvation is Free, a Gift! Recieved by Believing!
"Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth." Rm. 10:4;"For by grace (God causing you to understand via His Word) are ye saved through faith (relying upon Christ and what He has done); and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God; not of works," Eph. 2:8-9.

Future Plans

When we finished our first building project we left one wing of our second floor unfinished. As we raise money we continue to complete one job at a time. It will house our children’s church classroom, our young adult classroom, men’s and women’s restroom, and more.

We believe that God has big plans in store for us and we have planned accordingly. As God allows us to grow, it will give us opportunity to expand our buildings and ministries.
